The teacher in training is the teacher of the future and therefore a key factor for change. When upcoming teachers are provided with innovations throughout their studies, these can become common practice for educators.
The educational sector responsible for quality education is now also being called to attend to social responsibility. We, after all, anticipate that the young adults in training – students and schoolboys and girls – will make the world of tomorrow a better place.
Community involvement, economic prosperity, an unpolluted environment and latitude for the natural world are basic principles that give the theory of sustainable development its interpretation.
Sustainable Teacher's Colleges in the Netherlands are working on sustainable development in education; either through separate modules or by means of an incorporated view. Several Teachers’ Colleges have teamed up to improve the quality of education.
